Ok you crazy skiiers!! Mother Nature provided 13 inches of snow last night and promises more tonight. The temperatures are cold, so should not get slushy in the afternoons...but, me, not being a skier/snowboarder, am planning on staying right here, in front of the fire, with a hot cup of cocoa, with marshmallows on the top! But you Daredevils and Snowbirds, come on up and enjoy the beautiful slopes Angel Fire has to offer!

Do you have any tips you could share for the snowmobile tours? We are expanding into McCall, Idaho and I was wondering if you have been doing the tours for a few years, what your best advice is. Do you allow any off trail rides?

WHAT were we thinking when we recently downsized from a 5 bedroom, 3.5 bath home to a 3 bedroom, 2 bath home. This weekend was Powderkeg Mountain Festival in Angel Fire Resort! Our daughter, Darcy and her fiancé, Brett drove from Phoenix to Angel Fire Thursday, the long way. When they got to Sedona and 1-40, the interstate was closed because Flagstaff got 7 feet of snow! They turned back and drove from Tucson to Las Cruces and finally arrived in Angel Fire about 11pm. That turned a 10-hour drive in to 15. Our other son-in-law, Brant, had a medical conference in Phoenix and he, our oldest daughter, Jamie and their three children left for their trip on Thursday also. At Grants NM (2 hours west of their home in Rio Rancho) they had to turn around and decided to come to Angel Fire to ski and snowboard. After 4 hours they were back to their home in Rio Rancho, where they started to re-pack summer to winter clothes for 5 people. Our son, Dustin (Colorado Springs, and my brother, Chris (Santa Fe) thought it sounded like a party and decided to come, too! That’s 11 people (plus our daughter, Tara, and her partner, John, that live in Eagle Nest) at our house from Thursday to Sunday, but who’s counting. I sure wish the carpet was installed in the family room. That happens Tuesday. For the time being we made good use of the floor space. Levi, (2) slept in his pack and play in the closet, Luci, (5) on the floor in our BR, Logan (3) on the floor, Dustin on the couch and Chris on the air mattress in the kitchen. The rest of us had beds. It’s never boring, is it? You can’t imagine what a mess my house was! Oh, yeah, Thursday night Logan got the 24-hour bug – vomiting and diarrhea. Then Tara got it on Saturday. We had three snow storms last week and got about a foot of snow. Darcy’s car, the Jeep and the Suburban were all stuck at various times during the weekend. Good thing Dustin was here to pull us all out with his big truck.

We skied, snowboarded, rode inner tubes on the mountain, shoveled snow, watched KU and KSU and just had a blast. I ran the dishwasher 3 times one day. This was the first weekend of 10 days of concerts and we went to two. When the last or our children left about 1pm this afternoon, Stuart and I did all the laundry, cleaned the house and are just pooped. But it is so quiet and the TV is not on ESPN. I said I was ready to put the house on the market and find a bigger one but everyone else seemed to think it was fun.

We are adding on a new family room as I write this!
