Monte Verde Lake is a pravate lake owned by Angel Fire Resort that’s stocked throughout the summer. Fishing equipment, bait, paddleboats, rowboats, picnic tables and BBQ grills are available. There is a day fee for fishing. (Watch for fly fishing clinics offered) 377-6401
Cimmaron Canyon is one of New Mexico’s best fly fishing spots! This beautiful stream is 15 miles northeast of Angel Fire, and located in the 33,000 acre Colin Neblet Wildlife are.

Here we are at March 15th 2009 already. It’s hard to belive the 08-09 ski season will be over in a few weeks. However for people like myself who just tolerate the snow to get back to my seasons spring, summer, and fall here in the Moreno Valley It’s getting very exciting. I’m not sure if I’m more looking forward to going fishing on Monte Verde lake or down in Cimarron canyon at the gravel pit lakes.I’m also ready for the arrival of the birds that come to the area at this time of year. I have to admit with all the indian summer we have been having I found myself today pulling out my humming bird feeders. You know they will be here next month.
Yes it’s been a great winter in Angel Fire and all the snow was a blessing But soon the mountains are going to come alive with the budding of the Aspens and the wild flowers that call this place home along wiyh me.
