In the last month we have a great addition to the Angel Fire area. A new mexican food restaurant called "Hatches". Us locals have known about the original one in Mora for years but the family has now opened a location here in Angel Fire and let me share with you the food is as good as it ever was in the Mora location. They offer a wide variety of traditional mexican dishes as well as the hamburgers are great also. And given a little time they don't mind special requests.Next time in Angel Fire you should try it a great little family place.

New dining option in Angel Fire. The Bistro is owned and ran by Tom Bowles, the owner of The Roasted Clove. All food is cooked in the same kitchen. However, The Bistro is more of a bar atmophere with small plate servings such as fish tacos, sliders etc. It's fantastic. Visit www.roastedclove.com for more info.

Tom Bowles of The Roasted Clove will be featured on New Mexico Hot Chefs on Channel 2 (out of Albuquerque), Saturday March 13 at 11:00am! We had dinner there Friday, March 5th, and I have to tell you the Bacon, Green Chili Mac and Cheese was comfort food at its best, and the bone-in Ribeye can not be beat!!! If you have not heard, the Clove has expanded! The Upstairs Bistro at The Roasted Clove opens at 7am serving coffee, espresso, breakfast, and lunch. Daily happy hour starts at 3pm with beer and wine specials. Great food from Chef Tom Bowles in a more relaxed and informal atmosphere all day long! To see their menu, go to www.roastedclove.com.

This area is not just about the beauty and wildlife but sometimes about the night life also. We are very fortunate to have a local winery in our back yard. The Ritchie-Slater Winery is about 5 miles south of town and features dry fruit wines as well as some other New Mexico wines. The locals hang out there on Friday and Saturday nights when a local band plays and most people bring a pot luck dish for everyone to enjoy. People get up and dance or just enjoy sitting on the dcek watching the sunset. Set in an 1800's barn there are other activities that take place such as private parties and weddings. Check it out somtime and tell Pearl Rogers sent you!
